Celebrate freshness !

Hi there!

I love the gorgeous sweet and sour inspiration photo at The card concept this week!

At Freshly made sketches Jen T gave us a lovely clean slate sketch to work with... just the right thing for what I had in mind!

Also linking to the anything goes challenge at Simon says stamp Wednesday challenge.

A closer look:

I used a stencil (cut with my Silhouette Design ID #61297) to sponge the delicious citrus colors with the tiny triangle segments of the fruit as inspiration to create this clean and graphic card.

  • picked raspberry    }
  • spiced marmalade  }  (Tim Holtz)
  • mustard seed          }
  • green hills                  (Hero arts)

Sentiment also from The Silhouette store: Design ID #46490

After sponging the colors , I stamped a couple of black accents for interest.

As explained earlier, I stamped and cut out a good amount of this beautiful flowers, always handy to have some ready for the right occasion! All I had to do is to give one of them a quick coat of color, using my Promarkers, and stamp the border (twice) to create a small background to place my flower.

Finished off by stamping the sentiment and a couple of dots.

Fusion Celebration card

Hi there!

I love the way card challenges do just what they say : CHALLENGE!

There's a wonderful inspiration photo and sketch at Fusion card challenge. Beautiful photo, with lots of elements to work with . Lovely sketch, with layers more than I usually attempt.... but...I accepted the challenge and took on both the sketch and inspiration photo. Here is my card :

A closer look:

The inspiration:

I love the contrast of the B&W stripes with the soft pastels, and used it to build the theme around the layered cake as my focal point.

The cake is a design available in the Silhouette online store : Design ID #128714.

The stripes and spots are fill options available also from the Silhouette store.
I used it for both the horizontal and vertical panels.

I added subtle color to the cake with my Promarkers, as well as a couple of rhinestones to add some glamour!

I saved the sentiment I created for you to use:

CASology : Cute

Hi there!

Happy Tuesday to you!

Happy indeed because it's CASology time!

Cute cards are not so easy for me to make, but if you are so lucky to get an adorable cutie to work with, difficult becomes so easy!

Our sponsor  made it really easy this week, go check out the cute digi images over  at Kitty Bee Designs  !

I opened the given image in the Silhouette studio, traced it, and cut it out.

The card base is my own design, all done using the same software program.

I colored the little raccoon with a light grey Promarker, and 2 different shades of red for the hearts.
I used glossy accents to add interest to the hearts.

Altenew Inspiration challenge.

Hi there!

I feel like a child with a new toy... just can't get enough of my new Altenew stamps. And I have only opened one of the 4 sets I bought last week! Yes, can't believe I'm saying it.... the "Silhouette girl"!

... but what is more fun than stamping ... it's getting help from the Silhouette to do the 'fuzzy cutting' !  Because fuzzy cutting is just. not. for. me!

So here's my second card using the smallest flower from the Henna Elements set.

A closer look at the dimension:

I stamped the flower, scanned it and imported the image to my Silhouette studio . Just traced it with a small offset to create a cut file. I cut multiple flowers to keep for future projects.

I stamped the flowers with Versafine black ink afterwards and colored it with my Promarkers.

The sentiment is from The digi chick.

My card was inspired by the photo May Park provided for the September challenge at the Altenew blog.

I was inspired by :
  • The stripes in the background.
  • The round shape of the bowl holding the washi tape, as well as its position on the lower part of the  photo.
  • The colors red, yellow and blue.

Have a great week!

The Paper Players #314 : A sketch by Joanne

Hi there!

It's Sunday and time for a new challenge at The paper players !

This week is a sketch week, and the sketch was designed by Joanne... I hope you will play along!

My take:

altenew henna elements congrats

I you follow me on  Instagram, you will know how excited I was about new stamps from Altenew which was delivered at my doorstep last week.

I discovered an online craft supplier situated in Dubai, our neighbor city, and they stock Altenew stamps. This means I don't have to pay an arm and a leg for shipping costs from far away places!

They do ship worldwide, so you might want to take a look at Pretty Paper Studios !

Of course I had to ink up those stamps immediately... !

I used my Silhouette (of course :) to create the cutting file to hug this pretty flower from the Henna Elements set.

Kept it very simple , just adding the border stamp to frame the popped up  panel. Stamped a few dots as accents and a sentiment and jewel center to finish off the design.

Oh yes, almost forgot the gold strips (peel offs) I added to the borders.

I think the reason I love this set so much, is because henna tattoos are something associated with this part of the world where we live in. I am always amazed by the effortless way the ladies draw this designs, with such a steady hand!

To end my post today, I am adding a photo of a henna tattoo I got on a desert safari we went on some time ago.
The pigment were just painted, and was busy drying, so sorry I don't have a picture to show how it looked after the henna dried and were washed off !

After curing, the pigment fades in about a 7-10 days time.

Thanks for visiting me today!

Have a great day
